So, I realized it's been a while (ok, a *long* while:ashamed:) since I updated my journal.....time to catch up, right? :writersblock:
For those of you who have noticed the lack of my postings, there's a very good reason...actually several reasons, and they involve technical and time issues.
:bulletgreen: the technical: my pc is dying.:tombstone: As in "dig a grave and bury the damn thing already" dying.:pissedoff: This shouldn't surprise me really, it's 4 years old after all. In the world of computers, that's like "older than dirt":trash: LOL. It was a great system 4 yrs ago, and I could run pretty much any program/software I wanted, but not now.:chainsaw: Poser and Daz are both a lost cause, and even Photoshop is painful to navigate. The polar ice caps melt faster than PS works:rofl:
But there's light at the end of the tunnel...(or is that a train:ohmygod:) - actually the hubby has pretty much promised me a new pc next month OMG!!!!! YAY!!!!! and I am super excited about it:excited::woohoo::eager:Finally I will be able to render again, and I can't wait!!!! However, part of the reason he is agreeing to a new pc, is also due to reason #2, the "time" part....

:bulletpink: the time: I am going back to school:faint: - I know you just went "wait...WHAT?!?!":omfg: And don't you say *one word* about how old I am!!:granny:LOL. Besides, I've prolly already said it myself . But yes, at the (cough)tender young age of 51(cough) I am going to school. Sort of. I'm actually doing what's known as "distance learning". Meaning, I am doing it online. (If you ask me, it's a fancy way of saying "thank God we don't have to look at your ugly face in a room every day and put up with your piss-poor attitude" LOL.) And man am I learning a lot.....like...:wtf: what in the world made me think this would be so freaking cool?? lol...... and like....:-x it's a lot of work!!!
What am I studying, you ask? Awww, thanks for asking!!:tighthug:. It's called "medical coding" and I am really enjoying it (hard work aside). Basically, coders read the patient's record from a hospital or doctor visit, find every single service and procedure that occurred during the visit, and converts that information into codes which are then sent to (a)places like insurance companies for payment, and (b)health organizations like Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organization, for statistical purposes. It's a pretty big deal, and rather more involved than I initially thought. Errors are not well received as you can imagine, so there is really a *lot* to learn. Coders need a thorough understanding of the health record's content, as well as anatomy and physiology of the human body (think: lots of really strange words that are hard to pronounce lol:giggle:- freaking Greeks!). They also study diseases, and must know how it started, what are the symptoms, how is it treated, and what's the prognosis. And then there's the drugs...almost an entire course on pharmacology alone. The job is more than simply looking up a medical phrase in the coding manuals or with software. They also have to be knowledgeable of state and national guidelines concerning payments (think: Medicare and Medicaid) and are the ones who are directly responsible/accountable if fraud is ever suspected (think: who goes to jail first lol). But I am absolutely loving it!! I started 2 months ago, and have about 7 or 8 months left to go. (It normally takes 12 months or more, but I am devoting full time to the studies, in order to finish sooner, and because I have the time:worker:.)
And what are my grades you ask? Gosh you're so sweet to ask..... I have an A average, tyvm!!:woohoo:

Soooo.. my plate is full,:juggle: but a new pc in the wings, and a new job on the horizon....I'm thinking life aint half bad right now, ya know??:boogie::typerhappy:

Writers Block

2 min read
1) Happy New Year to everyone. Yeah, I know, it's late, but better late than never?

2) Thanks to everyone who watches me, and leaves comments and favs - it's much appreciated.

3) What's the 3D equivalent of writer's block? cos I think I have it. Not so much that my muse has left me... more like she's just wandering around aimlessly. Definitely not giving me anything to go on. I keep opening Daz and Poser, and just surfing thru my (out-of-control) libraries, and thinking "o yeah, that would be a cool pic" but then when I start a piece, it just never turns out like I thought it would. It just seems that I don't have any true inspiration atm. Anybody else have this? Is it just the "winter blues"? Should I offer sacrifices to my muse? (Maybe my firstborn, he keeps pissing me off... lol j/k) Threaten to fire her? What? I need help here...
I keep looking thru other galleries, but I'm so afraid of copying ideas, and I *really* want my stuff to be original. Where do you get your inspiration from? I'm not necessarily short of *ideas* .... just short of hmmm...motivation? the ability to follow thru on my ideas? idk. it's weird.

4) Much thx to LASF for reminding me today just how much progress I have made in my feeble attempts at art. :glomp:

5) Do you like a challenge? Join us at The Angry Crayon for the next art exchange. The new theme is "steampunk" .... more details coming soon.

Do I have a sign on me somewhere that says "all idiots welcome here"??

After my earlier journal about the "nothing pages", I got a message about a devwatch. Check it out.........

their stats:
"sussycadillac has 1,357 pageviews total and her 0 deviations were viewed 0 times. She watches 462 people, while 13 people watch her.

Overall, her deviations received 0 comments and were added to deviants' favourites 0 times, while she commented 1 times, making about 0 comments per day since she joined DA. This means that she gave 1 comments and received none."

462? She watches 462 people?? just WTH!!!???
and seriously - wth are those 13 people watching on her page??? ROFLMAO

I have never claimed a genius I.Q. I don't perform brain surgery. There are many things that I stumble across on almost a daily basis which I don't understand. But just color me dumb on this one, because I'm really not getting it.

Recently I logged on to find a person had favd several of my pieces. Excited, I quickly clicked to their page to leave my tyvm. Just as I was about to type, I noticed an interesting thing about their front page.....it was filled with favs and tyvm from a *lot* of people, but not one single response back. Not one single deviation of their own. Wondering if this was a new da member, and thinking i could include a "welcome" in my thanks, I looked to check. Nope, not a newbie. In fact, they had been a member for over one year. Further exploring showed me a definite pattern... this member *regularly* logs in, favs a *ton* of art, then is never heard from again. There was no conversation with a friend, no personal work, no replies to thanks, nothing. It was like looking at a ghost. Frankly it kinda gave me the creeps. And got me to thinking, why would anyone do this? Why would they bother to make an account only for faving? If they enjoy art so much, why not create some of their own, even if it's not great? If they have been here for such a long time, surely they have friends...why no replies? Unless they are here for ulterior motives...??

Several days later, it happened again, but this time from a *different* person. Going through the motions again, I got the same result. So it got me curious enough that I went back and did some checking. It had happened a number of times before, I just had not noticed. A member creates an account, favs work all over da, never creates any art of their own, and never has any interaction with anyone. Personally, I think it smells very fishy. Maybe they are only here to look for things to rip, and fav it so they can find it again.

Please understand I am always grateful for people coming to my page, looking at my work, and taking the time to comment or fav. But I will not feel obligated to respond to a page of "nothingness". A year is plenty of time to make something artistic, to find some friends, to become a part of the community - even if on a limited basis. If you fall into this category, and come to fav my work, don't expect anything from me. In fact, I am thinking very seriously about blocking members like this from accessing my page. Either become an *active* member, with your own art to share, or just don't bother on my page.

If anyone has any helpful insight for me, or can show just cause why I should change my mind, feel free to enlighten me on this subject.

Just my :twocents:

WOOT for new journal entries LOL - what? it's only been 2&1/2 months :P

ok. So one of the things that bugs me about DA is the limits on pages of non-sub members. I would love to be able to dress up my page and have it looking all cool and stuff, but atm I just seriously can't afford a sub. But why can't DA at least give some "lower-end" choices to non-subs? Would one or two options really crash their system?  Anyway, one of the things I would love to have (other than a beautiful page with all the sparklies I can find lol) is STAMPS !! But nooooooooooo, can't do that UGH :(

However, I *did* find these little wonderful things called plz stamps. And they are free. And you can use them even *without* a sub YAY!!!!
:iconlovedastamp1::iconlovedastamp2:

And since I don't have a devID either, I put some of them in that spot lolz. OK, so there's not as many of these as there are regular stamps, but when you start looking, it's surprising how many you can find. And many are really nice.

So, if you're like me and don't have a sub, (hint hint) then go grab some of these cuties and find a spot on your page to slap them up.

You can start here plzstamps.deviantart.com/
and here plz-accounts.deviantart.com/

and just so you know....... :iconsub1plz::iconsub2plz:
ROFLMAO
